The active ingredient in Preparation H is shark liver oil. Think about that for a minute. Somehow, through an indeterminably long process of small discoveries, somebody arrived at the notion that catching a shark, removing its liver, extracting oil from that liver, and rubbing said oil on their anus was a good idea. And a profitable one.
Just one more example of the strangeness of science.
